MBBS Enrichment Program Launch 2011
“Frontlining refugee health"
Crossing Borders and Ignite, in association with the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, is proud to announce the launch of the 2011 MBBS enrichment program, focusing on refugee health.
Each year the Commonwealth Government accepts some 13,000 people from refugee backgrounds through its Humanitarian Program. Refugees entering Australia have a higher rate of long-term medical and psychological conditions than other migrants, tend to report a poorer state of wellbeing, and visit health care providers more frequently.
Special guest speakers Dr Janet Bodycomb and Manita Ray (The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Philanthropic and Corporate Engagement Coordinator) will speak about the important issues related to the plight of refugees and Australia’s Humanitarian obligations.
If you want to get involved in an event that focuses on global health on a local level, and are passionate about improving standards of health care in this country, then don't miss this opportunity!
This event is open to Doctors, community members and students from ALL disciplines!
Date: 9th May 2011
Time: 6.30pm (light refreshments available from 6pm)
