FAQs

Who is eligible to apply?

The GHMP is currently open to all Monash Medical Students studying in Australia. It should be noted that the program expects involvement from July 2011 until July 2012. You will need to able to prove that you can maintain your commitment over this time.

What is a module?

The discussion modules are papers that have been written by the GHMP committee around a core global health topic. The four topics are:

  • Climate change and health
  • Millenium Development Goals
  • Social determinants of health
  • Health systems

Each module consists of a summary paper, appendices with further reading and a list of resources allowing further research. After familiarising themselves with the topic, the students will be expected engage in meaningful discussion with their mentors, further challenging their understanding.

What sort of article do I have to submit at the end of the program?

Each student will be expected to write a global health article, which will hopefully be inspired by their experiences and discussions they have had during the program. The format and theme of the article is up to the student’s discretion. These will be compiled and published in the Global Health Mentoring Magazine, a tangible product of the achievements reached over the year.
